In 2020, the World Muscle Society, like so many learned societies, held its first virtual congress due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 25th WMS Anniversary Congress, despite the fact that it was entirely digital, was nevertheless a great success. In spite of our hope that life would be back to normal for our annual congress in 2021 in Prague, we have all realised that ‘normal’ has changed and that a return to the pre-pandemic status quo is unlikely, and so, the WMS annual congress will be an entirely virtual meeting for the second time in 2021.
Registrations for WMS2021 closed on Friday 24 September 2021. Post-congress registration is however available on request. Please contact [email protected]
Please expect a minimum 48-hour delay in receiving your login details. Access credentials will be provided in a separate email, pending a review of your registration record once your registration has been submitted. Please note that payment in full is required before access credentials are released. Any additional queries that the Committee may have in regards to your registration ticket may affect your access to the platform.

WMS2021 programme sessions will be held from remote locations and e-posters will be shared virtually. Industry symposia will be available online and on demand. Exhibitors will be able to meet online to discuss new collaborations. We have learned from last year’s experience and we are working hard to design an inclusive, engaging virtual event for all our attendees.
Access to the virtual congress will be provided to registered participants only in the form of access credentials. The majority of the live streamed sessions will be available online on the virtual platform for up to 3 months post-congress (until midnight GMT on Friday 24 December 2021) and migrated to the WMS website thereafter, for WMS Members to access.
If you want to benefit from Member discounts (see below), please make sure your Society 2021 Membership is active (and will be active for the duration of the Congress) before proceeding with your registration. You can do this by logging into your WMS account on the Society website here. You will not have the option to purchase or renew your membership during your Congress registration process above. Your Congress registration type must match your Society Membership type.

Student Registrations
Relevant for a medical student, a medical doctor in training to acquire his/her primary speciality, a PhD student, a post doc, an MSC student or equivalent. The delegate must have no direct interest/shares in a pharmaceutical company or more than 10% employed by a profit-making organisation. If you are unclear about your student status, please contact Prof. Laurent Servais on [email protected] for guidance.
Non-member students will be asked to provide a scan of a valid student ID and a letter from their course supervisor confirming they have an ongoing student project and the details (maximum of one side of A4 on headed paper) and/or confirming their student status and the date until which this status is granted. The letter must confirm Undergraduate, Basic or Medical Student, Master, PhD student, resident in training or post doc status. The letter should ideally be in English. If this is not possible, then important key words should be underlined. If you are unable to upload these documents during registration, please send them send them by email to registrat[email protected] afterwards.
Industry Registrations
Relevant for delegates in the Pharma/ Industry/ Investor sectors. By selecting this registration type, you are stating that you have direct interest/shares in a pharmaceutical company or are more than 10% employed by a profit-making organisation.

Sponsor/Exhibitor Registrations
Representatives of confirmed sponsor and exhibitor organisations will be sent bespoke registration links once sponsorship agreements have been confirmed with the organisers. These links will be provided to the global coordinator in each organisation. Sponsor/Exbibitor tickets provide the same level of access to congress sessions and virtual platform features as delegate congress tickets. Pre-Congress Teaching Course tickets can be booked separately during registration (the above fees apply).
Agency Registrations
If you are an Agency registering a delegate or group of delegates on their behalf please make sure the details of the organisation they represent are entered into the address fields on the registration form rather than your agency name and address. Please also make sure their respective organisation name and position are mentioned in the profile you enter for each attendee. If this information is not provided, it may delay the review of the application for registration.

Registered participants who are unable to attend the congress must forward a written cancellation (by email) to the WMS Congress Secretariat.
Refunds of the registration fee (minus 20% for administration costs) will be granted if notification of cancellation reaches the Secretariat in writing on or before 1 August 2021. After this date, cancellations will not be refunded. Refunds will be processed after the congress. No refunds will be granted in case of no show.
