If you would like to join the scientists, researchers and clinicians who will present their work at the WMS 2022 Congress please submit your abstract using the link below, having read the guidelines and other important information further down this page.

Please note, you will need to ‘create a new account’ for this purpose, independent from your Congress registration account (your Congress registration log in details are not recognised for abstract submission).

Submission Guidelines

The presenting author must be registered correctly in accordance with the registration type that applies to them based on their role, organisation etc for the congress in order to be able to submit an abstract. Only the presenting author can be the submitter of an abstract. An abstract submitted by someone who is not the presenter will be refused.
If any abstract is selected for a poster, it will be visible on the virtual platform and app as well as on e-poster boards at the venue. If the presenter is registered with an in-person congress ticket, the poster will also be displayed on a traditional poster board at the venue. However, if the presenter is registered with a virtual congress ticket, the only presentation opportunity will be via the video/audio file preloaded with the digital poster.
If the Poster Presenter is registered with an in-person registration ticket and an abstract has been confirmed for an in-person presentation and they then decide to attend virtually at a later date, then the only presentation opportunity will be via the video/audio file preloaded with the digital poster.
If the Poster Presenter is registered with a virtual registration ticket and an abstract has been confirmed for a virtual presentation and they then decide to attend in-person at a later date, then it is at the discretion of the Programme Committee as to whether the presentation opportunity will still only be via the video/audio file preloaded with the digital poster or a traditional poster board at the venue.

All abstract submitters must complete, sign and return a Conflict of Interest form. Completion Guidelines and Disclosure Form. When submitting an abstract with multiple authors, only the presenting author must complete the Declaration of Conflict of Interest. We do not require the Conflict of interest from all authors of the same paper. The completed forms must be sent to WMS Accreditation Manager, Elena Plugaru on certificat[email protected] by 6th April 2022.
There is no fee to submit an abstract. A WMS Membership is not required to submit an abstract.
To submit an abstract the author will have to enter a specific code in the submission form. The code will be found in the registration confirmation email in RED text.
Upon submission, indicate one of the topics from the list that best describes the content of the abstract and then select a further sub-topic..
Abstracts must be written in English.
Maximum 2,000 characters (including spaces and excluding title and contact information on authors). The title must have a maximum of 150 characters.
A maximum of 20 co-authors per abstract are allowed. If more co-authors have contributed, these should be summarily stated as a Study Group and can later be displayed on the poster or appropriately be acknowledged during an oral.
References and credits are not to be included in the abstract, nor subheadings (background, methods, results, etc specifically labelled), graphical files, tables, figures or keywords. Note that all subheadings in abstracts will automatically be deleted by the programme committee.
Abstracts cannot be submitted by fax, hard copy or e-mail.
Within reason, there is no limit to the number of abstracts that can be submitted.
It is the presenting authors responsibility to make the appropriate potential conflict of interest disclosure acknowledgement on their poster/slide as indicated during the abstract submission process. It is the presenting authors responsibility to notify the organisers of any change to this status between submission and the congress. Slide templates are available Here.
The submitter will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract including acknowledgement of receipt of the submission and is responsible for informing co-authors of the status of the abstract.
The submitter will have access to the abstract after submission via an online Personal Page (see below) until the relevant abstract deadline.
In cases where the abstract is NOT accepted, participants will be contacted promptly and refunded if necessary.
It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract; if accepted, any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific fact may be reproduced as typed by the author. The Programme Committee reserves the right to shorten the abstract title to allow its publication in the congress programme and Neuromuscular Disorders Journal and edit the content to remove acknowledgements and misspellings identified by the Programme Committee.
Outcome notification for abstracts and fellowships will be sent out at the end of May/ beginning of June, after the programme committee meeting. Fellowship payment forms will be sent out early July for return by 10th August 2022. Payment is post-congress.

Early career and first time prize nominations

Poster presenters who are eligible for the young presenter and/or first time presenter awards will have a label on the Poster/E-Poster accordingly. Applicants should be in training and not yet in a definite established position. The maximum age for applicants is 40 years old, indicated during abstract submission.

Encore/previously presented abstracts

WMS does not have a strict policy around encore/previously presented abstracts. In general presentations will be judged according to novelty and interest for the members of the society.

The Journal does not transfer copyright for standalone Abstracts (not a part of the article). They have a non-exclusive license to publish those Abstracts. So, the Author may present/submit their abstract at other conferences.

Personal Page

When the abstract is submitted the author can follow the progress online by entering his/her Personal Page for abstracts. The Personal Page for abstracts makes it possible for the author to make changes until the submission deadline.

PLEASE read and check the abstract before submission

The author will be able to access the Personal Page for abstracts by entering the personal user ID and password indicated in the file attached to the confirmation email after submission before the abstract submission deadline. After this date it is not possible to access the Personal Page.

Publication

The full programme with accepted abstract titles will be available on the congress website in June. The late breaking abstracts will be added to the programme in September.

E-Posters will be available to view on the virtual platform and congress app from the congress opening on 11th October 2022.

A digital abstract journal will be available to all congress registered delegates from TBC. A link will be sent by email. The abstracts will also be available for WMS members and subscribers to the journal, via the journal, after the congress.
